The Jim Jones Revue @ Album de la Semaine Canal+ Paris Jan 19th 2009

After leaving the Wampas ( review below ) and their dedicated fans we went straight to Canal+

New english rock ' n roll band The Jim Jones Revue is playing for the first time famous french tv show "L' Album de la semaine " .
They are greasy & sleazy and really rocking , i mean reaalllly rocking.
Dressed up like 50's rockers, they're playing a heavy rock very 50's orientated
The singer is also playing the lead guitar and is screaming like a maniac. They have a piano that keeps their heavy rock swinging ( The Killer would be proud ).
Very nice set with 2 covers as an encore Elvis' " A big hunk of love" and Little Richard 's " Good golly miss Molly" just in case you didn't noticed who their influences were.
sorry no pictures for this one it's forbidden

Those bastards from White Lies were supposed to play a Black Session tonight on C'est Lenoir but cancelled it at the 11th hour. The singer was sick. What a surprise when i looked at the NME website the day after, the band is playing a free gig @ the HMV store in London.
He made a quick recovery.

Les Wampas Virgin Megastore des Champs Elysées Paris 19 Jan 2009

The french punk rock band Les Wampas is playing live @ the Virgin Megastore on the famous Champs Elysées to promote their new cd " Les Wampas sont la preuve que dieu existe " , ( The Wampas are the living proof that god exists ) .
Not to be taken too seriously of course. That's why the record cover is what it is : an Ostrich .
It is packed , their fans are bit like a family so everyone knows eachother and quite unusual for a french punk rockers they attract many girls some of them very pretty ( even more unusual for a punk band ).
As always The Wampas are kicking ass live, their heavy rock is lively and makes you wanna jump.
Short set : half an hour but fool of energy.
The singer Didier Wampas is mad and went several times singing in the pit , crowdsurfing ...in a very nice atmosphere.

AC / DC @ Velodrome Marseille June 9th 2009

AC DC has added a second show in France in June , they will be playing in Marseille' s football stadium The Velodrome on June 9th .
A few rumours were talking about 2 shows in Nice June 8th and Paris June 10th , these shows won't happened as Ac Dc never play 2 stadium shows in a row ( too bad for Paris ).

The Fleshtones + Tony Truand @ Mécanique Ondulatoire Paris Jan 16th 2009

Second show for opening band Tony Truand & The "Mighty" Fleshtones should i call them now.And ROCKERPARIS is here again, you 'll never get rid of us ...
It's really funny how impredictable that funny little french fellow can be , that guitar player is as tall as Malcom Young from AC DC and tries to play the tough guy, he's going into the audience to play some guitar and acting like a cunt pushing people and when someone is pushing him back , he wanna fight & leave the stage . Ridiculous. Hey dude ! get an attitude.

Tony Truand & Yarol Poupaud

Anyway , once again The Fleshtones , sorry .... The " Mighty " Fleshtones have turned the Mécanique Ondulatoire upside down & inside out.
They've done another GREAT show, the band has changed the setlist a bit and played a monster version of Grand Funk 's " Inside looking out " .
Another nice atmosphere with lots of sing along , once again it's chaos down the front, the singer's wild tonight he's going twice at the back of the tiny venue crowdsurfing ( see picture )
yesterday the band invited a young kid ( and his father ) to play some bass and guitar tonight we have two girls.
Tony Truand is called back to play a couple of tunes for the encore with The " Mighty " Fleshtones .
Another GREAT gig.
Band arriving & " What's next ? "

" take me away "

This guy can play ANYTHING !

Once again all pictures are from our fellow photographer © Guino Patrice , he wants me to tell you that he HAD TO use the flash ( which is an heresy to him ) as the lightshow was the shittest he has even seen. as they say in French " Dont acte " .

The Fleshtones + Tony Truand @ Mécanique Ondulatoire Paris Jan 15th 2009

The Fleshtones are back in Paris for 2 shows ( tonight and tomorrow Jan 16th, both SOLD OUT ) @ La Mécanique Ondulatoire near Bastille in Paris.
Opening band is Tony Truand ( guitar player for The Wampas and ex- Dogs )

Show takes place downstairs in the cellar in front of 150 people ( sold out ) , thank God it's forbidden to smoke in there.

First on stage is Wampas ' guitar player Tony Truand & ses deux solutions featuring Yarol Poupaud ...on drums.
Decent set for this typicall french 80's sounding rock -punk band , they have funny lyrics ( " i took some speed to get less stoopid ... " ).
Tony Truand and bass player

Then we have The Fleshtones.
First time i was seeing them live , i have to admit i don't really know any of their music even though they started in new york more than 30 years ago. I considered them more of a punk band but in fact they're more a garage band with 60's influences of surf music and Rhythm & blues.

Singer , keyboard player , drummer . What else ?

They have to go through the audience to get to the stage ( if you can call this a stage ) so they started the gig in the crowd. It's chaos down the front people are getting crazy.
A few girls in the audience and a young kid ( he will end up playing bass with the band , see picture ).
The singer's a real showman and he's also playing his farfiza organ.
Lots of communion and communication with devoted fans , some kick ass rock 'n Roll and you have a killer concert.
Tony Truand came back on stage to play a few songs with them to rousing applauses .
Many songs were added to the setlist so it's not accurate.
The Fleshtones were stunning !!!
90 min of pure Rock ' n Roll

Nice haircut man !

Marie - Flore , Mina Tindle , Gaspard Royant , Mélanie Pain @ Fleche d' Or Paris Jan 13th 2009

" Live French & Folk " that's the name of this evening's concerts with 4 french artists @ La Fleche d' Or in Paris.
As you can guess they're French and they're playing Folk Rock, in English please .
All bands are playing 5-6 songs for 30 min .

First artist on stage is Gaspard Royant , very good acoustic set from this french singer singing in perfect english , so many frenchies are so ridiculous singing in english, not tonight.
Gaspard is playing with a drummer and a piano player to nice affect.
Check his myspace for more : http://www.myspace.com/gaspardroyant
Here's a video from the show : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=B9-ZbiH3AC0&feature=channel_page
Gaspard Royant

Then we have the lovely Marie - Flore, i came tonight specially for her . I first saw her when she opened for Mark Lanegan & Isobell Campbell last month.
Alone with her guitar and some home made loops , she looks frail and shy but her soft voice and guitar playing is full of feelings. She reminds me of early Cat Power.
Sooo good , check my past review with pictures here: http://rockerparis.blogspot.com/2008/12/isobel-campbell-mark-lanegan-trabendo.html
Check her myspace ( with my video from the Trabendo ) here:
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=89076180
Couldn't take any pictures as she played most of her set in the dark but here's a video :

Next to play is Mina Tindle with her Pop Folk rock, Jp Nataf is on banjo , another french girl who has listen too many times to Cat Power ( there's a piano too ) but it's better than listening to bon jovi, don't you think so ?
Another nice set in a very good english.
Check her myspace : http://www.myspace.com/minatindle
And video from the show :
http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=CxYm5QwUtng&feature=channel_page
Mina Tindle

Last singer tonight is Melanie Pain ( another girl we're lucky tonight ) she used to sing with Nouvelle Vague.
Can't say that she's singing Folk rock. Her music is more Pop. Singing in english & french.
She has a soft voice, sounding a bit like Emilie Simon.
Instead of using samples she's using a home made vinyl with her music that she 's playing on a old player. that's a very good idea honey...
Check her myspace : http://www.myspace.com/melaniepain
Video from the show :
http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=PaDqEdfnsUA&feature=channel

Melanie Pain
I usually don't go out to see unknown bands or artists , i'm such a lazy sod , but i should do this more often. All bands were really good and they were FRENCH , such a nice surprise.
