Dawn Landes @ Oliver Peel Session, Paris July 07 2012

Dawn Landes @ Oliver Peel Session, Paris July 07 2012
Another lovely girl playing folk music @ Oliver's. It's taking place on the rooftop of his new apartment in the 17th district.
Everything was going smoothly until the neighbor from two levels below complained about the noise, threatening our host. What an asshole !
Show had to be stopped for a moment and we all went back inside into the living room trying not to make any noise.

We all had a great time but I guess this is the last ever session at this place as this asshole probably complain to the landlord on monday morning.
We shall see.

Harry Benson @ Taschen Paris for "The Beatles On the road 1964-1966"

Signing session With Harry Benson for his book "The Beatles On the road 1964 1966"
@ Taschen in Paris 6:00pm

Harry Benson photographed The Beatles in Paris at the George V Hotel in 1964 for the famous "Pillow Fight" session ( and at the Olympia theater on stage), he also photographed them in Miami when they met Cassius Clay, he also followed them on tour until 1966.
Introduction by French journalist Jerome Soligny from Rock&Folk magazine then Harry talked about his meetings with The Beatles and then he signed the books on sale for 500 euros.

Very interesting meeting , Watch video below Harry is talking about smoking pot with Paul, the meeting between The Beatles & Cassius Clay and some other stuff...

More Pics and review on Lucy in the Web website

Then we went to a diner Rue Cler near the Eiffel Tower that was taking place in the street, funny to attend as the mayor of the 7th district is Rachida Dati and the new MP of the district is former Prime Minister François Fillon, they tried to avoid contact as they hate each other even though they're from the same right wing political party. In the end they met and had to shake hands, Funny when you know that they insulted each other just two months ago.

That's our second meeting with a Prime Minister after attending The -Fête de la Musique- @ Hotel de Matignon with new PM Jean Marc Eyrault last week.

Pony Pony Run Run

Just after attending a show by Mina Tindle & Saint Vincent @ Colette store on the right bank, it's time to cross the Seine for the left bank to the residence of the French Prime Minister @ Hotel de Matignon.
French Electro pop band Pony Pony Run Run is playing in the front courtyard, it's packed out there and you have to go through metal detectors and Gendarmerie to get in.
It's a posh audience with mainly neighbors and people working here.
The courtyard is packed.
We're just in time to see the band getting on the stage, it's electro -pop with lively songs , it's ok but not really our drug of choice.

-Gendarmerie nationale : "Vos papiers svp"- & our French Prime Minister (and wife)

Our new French Prime Minister Jean Marc Ayrault is trying to act as if he is the coolest mother fucker in France by joining the audience while the band is playing and crossing the courtyard from one side to the other followed by dozens of photographers, reporters and cameras.
He stayed for the end of the set just next to us with his posse (of security guards) posing for photographers and acting as cool as fuck. He's da man !!!

Just been told Rockerparis & guests could be seen on iTV with MC JM Eyrault in the news.

The Posh audience is getting wild but our Prime Minister is keeping his "cool attitude"

Gossip @ Grand Rex, Paris May 03 2012

Gossip @ Grand Rex , Paris May 03 2012
for Nuit de l'Album de la Semaine.

Lots of people tonight @ Grand Rex, all invited by Canal+ , to celebrate famous tv show L'Album de la Semaine that started around 2005.

Tonight was played on a huge screen 40 songs from the best artist who came to play at Canal+: The White Stripes, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey, The Stooges, Arctic Monkeys , Peter Doherty, Foo Fighters, The Kills, REM, Them Crooked Vultures, Green Day, Franz Ferdinand, Miles Kane, Adele, Bjork,Lenny Kravitz, Amy Whinehouse and many others...
300 different bands in all, so they only picked up 40 for tonight:
One song for each of these artists divided over 6 sets, 3 before Gossip and 3 after, if i can remember well.
We've probably been to 80% of all these sessions with some great memories..."singing" with Iggy & Stooges being one of the best.
Short 9 songs set by Gossip with many new songs which are very disco, Hughhh !
cool set but we preferred when they were more rock

We were at the balcony with the VIPs, nice goodie bag with sandwiches & macarons by La Durée, perfect for a severe indigestion. These macarons are too good, specially the lemons & the raspberries.
The night ended at midnight (after starting @ 8:00pm), so very cool 4 hours of mostly Rock.
Could not be better... well maybe with a New York Dolls' song that was one of my favorites

The Lemonheads @ Maroquinerie, Paris April 26 2012

The Lemonheads @ Maroquinerie, Paris April 26 2012

The Maroquinerie is quite full for Evan Dando & his Lemonheads.
Nice start with a few songs on acoustic guitar then the band is joining in to play the album "It's a shame about Ray". He also took some requests and played some of the most well known Lemonheads songs. Some of them were played with just Evan on electric guitar.
He suddenly stopped put his guitar down and complained that his monitor wasn't working properly and started again after a roadie quickly fixed it but Evan seemed on another planet for the whole set, playing with his eyes closed or fixing the ceiling.
The way he abruptly stopped every song really showed that he really didn't give a fuck, its too bad because the Lemonheads have some great catchy pop tunes and he really did a good job.
He left the stage after only 75 min , never to come back, no encore.
We all felt a bit cheated even though everyone enjoyed the gig.

Jack White @ Cigale, Paris April 22 2012

Updated April 24 with complete & corrected setlist (thanks to Stéphane D)

Jack White
@ Cigale, Paris April 22 2012
First proper European show on this Tour to promote his first solo album "Blunderbuss", the album is out tomorrow but you could buy the vinyl & cd at the show tonight.
We could get ours on friday just before going to see Jack White @ L'Album de la Semaine TV show for Canal+performing a 45 min showcase, in front of a selected audience of less than 200 people, with both bands (male and female for two sets of 25 & 20 min).

Oups... sorry for the lousy Pics ;-) waiting for the officials !

Tonight we're only getting the Male band, Jack decided which one he was to play with, minutes before getting on stage, which means that the girls were @ Cigale and watching the show from the wings of the stage.
I guess he made a whole lotta money with The White Stripes as it might cost a fortune to pay expenses (travel & hotel + fees) for 11 musicians when you're only using 5 or 6 every night.

We knew what to expect, so there wasn't any surprise but Jack & the band were smoking as much as they did @ Canal+.
White & blue light for the whole show and the security was tight, probably the first show in a long time where I didn't see any cell phones or cameras up in the air to catch the moment, It's enjoyable but here @ Rockerparis, we don't like to be told what to do.
It's a ROCK show and we don't obey the rules, 'cause we're fuckin' ROCKERS.

Of course he played many songs for the new album and a couple of oldies, I have to say that our favorite is once again "Buffalo" from The Dead Weather. This song is a killer even though the album was very disappointing.
A "good" surprise he ended the set with The White Stripes' "Seven nation army", the show was so good that he really didn't need to play that song and we would have prefer another one from his back catalogue.
Great 69 min set, a bit short don't you think Jack ?
